How To Configure Your Google Workplace Email to Warmup Inbox

There are a few things you need to do within your settings to be sure Warmup Inbox works with your inbox.

In order to connect your inbox to the platform, you will need to enable a few settings. Follow the steps below to get started.

If you have 2 factor authentication enabled under your Google account, you will need to create an App password in order to connect your inbox. You can find a guide on how to do this here

Step 1: Admin Allows Less Secure Apps (Admin Side)

The admin on the Google Workplace needs to Allow Less Secure Apps on the account.


To manually navigate you can go to > Security > Less Secure Apps

It should look like this:

Step 2: Allow Per-User Outbound Gateways (Admin Side)

Once you are ready, navigate to this link and enable allowing users to send mail through an external SMTP server as seem below.


You can manually navigate to this page by going to go to > Apps > Google Workplace > Gmail > End User Access.

Make sure you save your settings before exiting this page.

Step 3: Allows Less Secure Apps On The Mailbox (Individual Mailbox Side)

Then go to the specific Google Workplace inbox that you want to connect to Warmup Inbox and Allow Less Secure Apps there.


It should look like this:

Step 4: Enable IMAP (Individual Mailbox Side)

Then go to the specific Google Workplace inbox and go into settings, which can be found here:

Then go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings and Enable IMAP. The settings should look like this:

Step 5: Wait 1 hour, then connect to Warmup Inbox

Once you've completed steps 1-4, you will be able to connect your account to Warmup Inbox! We suggest waiting for 1 hour so that the setting changes have time to propagate. 

At times it takes a few hours for your newly adjusted inbox settings to propagate. If you're still getting an error within Warmup Inbox, then wait 24 hours and then try again. If you get stuck, please let us know at

Still Having Trouble?

At times, Google's Less Secure Apps settings don't always register with Google. An easy fix is to turn on and off the settings one or two times to fix.

Try turning these settings on and off in this order and then trying to connect again.

Here are written instructions on how to do it.

1. Turn off Less Secure Apps on the user inbox side (

2. Turn off Less Secure Apps on the admin side


3. Refresh both pages and wait a minute

4. Turn on less secure apps on the admin side.

5. Turn on Less secure apps on the inbox side.

6. Navigate to this link under the account you are trying to connect and click "Continue"

7. Attempt to connect your inbox again

This sounds silly to do, but it surprisingly works for fixing SMTP connection issues. If this doesn't work right away I would recommend waiting an hour with all these settings ON and then trying to connect again as it could be that you need to wait for your DNS settings to propagate, and sometimes this doesn't happen instantly
