Yes, you absolutely need a DMARC record if you’re sending more than 5,000 emails per day to Gmail or Yahoo users. That rule went into effect in 2024 and is still active in 2025.
But even if you send fewer emails, setting up a DMARC record is still smart. It helps:
- Protect your domain from spoofing and phishing
- Boost email deliverability and trust
- Improve inbox placement (instead of spam folder)
Gmail and Yahoo now expect all senders to use SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. If you don’t have these in place, your emails are more likely to be rejected or ignored. DMARC is no longer optional for serious senders.
Bottom line: If you’re doing cold outreach or sending marketing emails, publish a DMARC record (even if it’s just p=none) and make sure it aligns with SPF/DKIM. It’s a fast win for better deliverability and domain protection.
